Kasai is an excellent Japanese restaurant. I have never had a bad meal or experience there. The Sushi is always fresh and delicious and artistically prepared. They have a great selection of appetizers and entree's with something to please any palate. Whether you like Sushi or not, you will like Kasai.
okay the truth about kasai is this: the food is awesome - great sushi, and overall a good selection of japanese cuisne, nicely prepared. the service can be sporadic - sometimes it is right on, sometimes things take awhile, overall you may need some patience on a busy night. fair beer selection, but lacking in the wine department, and saki is the only alcoholic alternative. the atmospher is friendly and cozy, and i enjoy ecelectic mix of very soft techno and new age. if anyone says anything negative about the sushi - then they must be from a competitor or eat carp out of the tuscarawas river - the best sushi in northeast ohio!!!!
SUSHI IS HORRIBLE!!!! They do not use fresh fish, it's all either frozen or pre-packaged. Our waitress told us fresh fish, strong taste, WRONG!! Fresh fish should have no odor or fishy flavor!! Go to Sushi Katsu if you want GOOD authentic Sushi! This place is a disgrace to the sushi industry. I've eaten at a ton of local sushi places in/around akron/canton and this is the worst!! I admit their restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and authentic japanese surroundings, however their food lacks the characteristics of good sushi, flavor, texture, etc. etc. etc. The price is reflective of the food.

are you kidding me, they have the best sushi around! i've been to sushi katsu, it's like eating sushi from a grocery store! kasai has always had fresh fish, & i've been going there for a few yrs now. i've also eaten at most sushi places around here and kasai is by far the BEST! A LOT of people agree with me!

All sushi in the US is made from previously frozen fish as required by the FDA. The FDA requires that fish be frozen at -4 degrees F for 7 days or at -35 degrees for 15 hours in order to destroy parasites. Kasai's sushi is very good by US standards with a Japanese born and trained Itamae-San at the helm. This is not a place you'd expect to find in Wadsworth, let alone Ohio.

I agree with Charlene. Sushi Katsu is pretty poor, generally using too much wasabi between the fish and rice on nigiri, and without a very wide selection. Katsu is very understaffed. Having had sushi in the Akron/Canton area, on the east coast, out west, at a variety of different establishments.. Kasai still rates very highly with me.
Regarding strong flavor, it depends on what you order. At Kasai there are some fish (Shake, Maguro) which have very mild flavors. Others (Saba, etc) have a stronger taste, but that is the nature of the fish, not the freshness.
