User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe best sushi in Maryland. I have been to every sushi restaurant in Maryland - Ziki's serves the best sushi.
There are over a dozen places around where I live but I would I drive an hour to get good sushi. Their service is great. We go there regularly and order both sushi and habachi.
The sushi that others post about "melt you mouth" sushi is not a good sign. Usually, it's the process of the thawing from frozen that makes it "melt." Another process is the bacteria breaking it down, and usually slimy so it's indicative that it goes down "easy" too? Either way, that poster must have gotten used to bad sushi.
I hear that they're opening at another location, in Annapolis. I am sooo excited! Instead of an hour away, it'll be 15 minutes down the road to sushi goodness. I cannot wait.-

Ziki is one of the best places I have been to. The prices are great. Their portions are great. The specials that they run also are great. The bartenders there are wonderful people. Everyone is really friendly. I love the atmosphere at the bar. I love the place and make it a regular occurance to meet up with friends for happy hour there.

If you had sushimi that 'melts in your mouth' it could mean you are having toro (fatty tuna) or a fish that's been frozen and thawed inproperly. The texture of the fish depends on the fat content of the fish. Red Snapper if fresh, can be 'crunchy'. Salmon can be 'melt in your mouth' type fish when its fresh. The thickness of each slice is also a factor.
Ziki's sashimi and sushi quality is one of the best in the Rockville area. I've been in the restaurant business before, and know when I'm eating fish that is not fresh. Admitedly, their hibachi wasn't that great when they first opened, but it has improved tremondously. Its become one of my favorite things to order with friends due to the amount given.
My recommendation is asking the sashimi chef for one of their unique creations. I found new favorites from some of the rolls that they've created on the spot and are not in the menu.

I forgot to mention that their CHEESECAKE dessert is a MUST HAVE! So decadent... worth gaining the weight.
