Absolutely the best bagels in Montgomery County. I've had bagels from most venues in the county and was always unsatisfied until Goldberg's opened. They are not really authentic New York bagels (only available in New York!), but they are excellent Baltimore bagels. Goldberg's has an adequate variety of bagels. I've tried the egg, everything, Russian black and a few others, but I prefer the plain, i.e., water bagel. For those of us who care, Goldberg's is strictly Kosher. They serve delicious breakfast and lunch meals, and close mid afternoon, so do not expect to be served for dinner. To be able to sample the variety of bagels available, you must plan to go to Goldberg's before noon. I think they do not bake bagels much past noon, hence my recommendation to shop early.
Goldberg's has a catering service built around bagels. I recently ordered excellent bagel sandwich, vegetable and side order platters for a party of eighteen. The food was delivered on time, and it was devoured by my guests.
When you want great bagels, try Goldberg's. (I have no financial interest in Goldberg's. I am just happy to finally be able to buy tasty non-New York bagels!)
Best bagels outside of NYC: You haven't had bagels until you've been here. I had a friend recommend this place, and I haven't looked back since. Nothing but pure, authentic NY bagels.
Now, to be fair, this place has two drawbacks:
1) The hours are terrible. I guess since it's Kosher joint they like to be open for about 8 hours each day, leaving only the unemployed the option to come here. (hence the 2 stars for service)
2) They don't always have all the bagels you want. The got 15 bins but only 6 might not be empty.
Still, I refuse to get bagels anywhere else. Make sure to freeze the bagels ASAP if you don't eat them right away.
