We contracted with Total Tub Solutions to install a walk-in hydrotherapy tub in our master bath in February of 2008. The work involved removing the old tub, temporarily removing the commode, chopping up a partially raised concrete floor, removing and replacing a pocket door and sheet rock. Plumbing and electrical wiring were also involved that they sub-contracted out.
The tub we choose was not in their product line, but they assured us the renovation would take a maximum of 4 days. They took pictures and measured our bathroom in advance. The following problems occurred:

    1. Workmen did not have a plunger although they knew they would have to remove the commode. We supplied the plunger. The commode was left outside on our lawn for approximately 10 days.
    2. The demolition phase consisted of cutting up the old tub, and removing a concrete step in the bathroom. The workmen used a jackhammer to do this, but did not bring anything to cover the furniture or otherwise protect the bedroom. We asked about drop cloths, but they said they didn’t have a clean one. The bedroom was filled with concrete dust for the whole day and several days later. Furniture was covered with the heavy dust.
    3. Workmen took out the chopped up concrete in plastic bags. When they ran out of bags, they took the concrete chips and spread them around our property in small mounds.
    4. In order to remove the old tub and install the new one, a pocket door and its frame were removed and left outside in the humidity overnight. The frame and door warped.
    5. Sheet rock had to be removed, but their own employee did not know how to replace it and a sub-contractor was employed for this job.
    6. They had no protective covering for the new tub as they were about to carry it into the house, so they used our towels.
    7. When the tub was installed, the plumbing was reversed (hot was cold and cold was hot). We used the tub once.
    8. We found debris that was left under the tub. That was against the manufacturer’s installation instructions. We did not use the tub again until the debris was removed two weeks later.
9 Damage to the acrylic finish was done by the electrician who was sent out because the blower fan was not working.
    10. Shower bar screws were placed on the top of the bar so that the shower curtain loops were impossible to slide over the screw heads.
    11. When the pocket door was reinstalled, it had been warped from being left outside overnight in the humidity and no longer fit properly. The door had major gouges from trying to slide it back and forth. This situation took four weeks to remedy.
    12. The most frustrating part of this whole ordeal was the total lack of cooperation from Total Tub Solutions. In a series of E-mails and phone calls, WE were blamed for being too fussy. They accused us of wanting a “free” door. They preferred to argue with us rather than correct the problems. They also blamed the tub for everything that went wrong as it was not their normal brand. A project that was started on February 25 was completed at the end of March.
I would not recommend Total Tub Solutions to anyone
