I think this was the worst $17,000 I have spent. I took the medical assisting class and I had 3 differnet teachers. They couldnt even give us the same teacher for all our classes. They give you 6 week for each class and after the 6 weeks they move on to something else and you dont practice what you already learned so its not consistant. The teachers we not helpfull eaither. When I asked for help I had to wait till they had time to help witch was a lil to late to be of any help. I would not recomend going to this school. They dont give you whats necessary to be a great medical assistant. They don't help yuou at all with job placement. Its like your done with school and you are no better off then you were before going to school. Before I was even done with medical assisting the counslers was trying to get me to enroll in another class. I was not even interested but they try to push you into it. They say you wont have to pay you school loans back until you are done with the new class. They try to hard. So all in all I realy regreat chosing this school it was the worst decision I have ever made. And I garantee I am not the only one who fells this way. I have kept in touch with alot of my felow classmates and at least 20 of them feel the same way and still dont have jobs. I have gone on job interviews for medical assisting and they have told me more then once that i was not trained enough. I was so shocked because I thought the school was going to give me the tools to get a job. But guess what?? NO THEY DON'T. The teacher dosent even make you feel comfterble enough to complain. I was told to complain to the program director not the dean if I had any propblems. So what was I suposed to do when the program director is the one not doing her job??? She acted like she might retaliate if we went above her to complain. Also career services dont care to help you either they cancel your appointments and dont return your calls. They have you finish this book and binder that is completly and uterly useless. Its a big huge waste of time. And useless. They say its so you have what you need to get a job. What you need is skills, which you do not get from this school. For a school that says they care and want to help they dont. I hope this helps you make the right choices for your future. Western is known for getting thier students to remove their posts so you can never post anything. They get taken down almost as fast as you put them up. If they know who you are. Why would they do that??? They dont want everyone to know the truth. But here it is I hope it helps you make the right choice.
I went to a similar school and I will say that it was much the same. It lacked consistancy, I had contempt for many of the employees through out, while very much liking others. They had students that couldn't get placed working as financial aid folks, so needless to say, they could not adequately respond to your questions relating to financial aid because they were trained elsewhere. However, I will say that despite the drastic negatives, I was able to shine as an individual, a strong work ethic, willingness to start low and work my way up and use what skills I had gained from the school (knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding/HIPAA) as a way in the door. The extern department wasn't reliable, so I found my own site, I called every listing in the phone book locally until I found a doctor willing to interview me and got the job. Attitude is EVERYTHING!!!! I did other jobs in medical than what I went to school for, but I was in medical and am now doing what I went to school for. . It is 8 years later and I make $10 an hr more than I did before I went to school. Food for thought....Sorry Shortay, I have to say that one thing that spoke to me was the great number of mispelling and improper use of english in your post, I realize that it is not a resume, but how you present yourself makes a huge difference...again, food for thought...In the end, they lay out what you need to survive in a VERY short period of time. If you take it to heart, and make up the rest in determination...you WILL make it...Good luck
Everything started off great, then my teacher quit and now I am stuck with this woman who is trying very hard....Class is a disaster!! It is no longer a learning environment, there is a major language barrier between students and teacher she never understand questions we are asking so she can't ever answer what we are asking. This program is WAY too expensive to be stuck with a teacher who is trying. I fear I will not have the confidence or training I need to get a job. I have made a few complaints to the dean and the program director and all they can say is give it time!!!! I don't have time!!!!!! I feel ignored and now I am labled a problem student. I do not recommend this school to anybody. You can get the same education from CCOC or Bosten Reed for thousands less.
ALL I CAN SAY IS RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE AFRAID BE VERY AFRAID! THE SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST SCAM THAT THIS SCHOOL HAS GOING. STUDENTS GET RIPPED OFF BE THE DAILY. YOU PAY OVER 37,000 DOLLARS FOR A PROGRAM THAT YOU MAY GET DROPPED FROM DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH YOUR LIKED! THERE MAY NOT BE SITES FOR YOU WHEN ITS TIME FOR YOUR EXTERNSHIP. THE OTHER PROGRAMS LIKE MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND PHARMACY TECH ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE YOU WILL NOT MAKE THE MONEY BACK. TRUST ME YOUR BETTER OFF GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE! YOU'VE NOW BEEN WARNED!!!
