The food is very delicious and the service excellent. We eat there often and will continue to go there. Love that sushi and the portions are generous.
This place, while not as fancy and hip as some of the alternatives, offers the best sushi in town. The quality of fish is excellent, and the specialty rolls are more numerous and delicious than at any other restaurant in the area. You can go in and have a nice conversation with one of the friendly sushi chefs at the bar, or you can settle into a comfy, spacious booth for an intimate dinner with a friend (none of that close, uncomfortable seating that you sometimes experience at sushi restaurants.) There is also a patio area with ceiling fans that is great when the weather isn't at an extreme. I wouldn't recommend going with a party of more than 8 or so, as the place is pretty small and the tables can only be moved around so much. The servers and hosts are knowlegable and friendly, as they are all hand-picked and the employment turnover is very low; some have been working there for over two years. Do: go for the lunch specials between 11 and 3, or try out a few of their "super special" rolls if you are ready to be blown away. Don't: Order mixed drinks, as the selection is very limited compared to the delicious beverages served at sushi restaurants with full bars.
In summary, what they lack in a nice environment, they make up for in quality of food and service.
Quaint Little Place Near Campus: Wahada is the best contemporary sushi stop to date here in Baton Rouge. I haven't been to the Druken Fish yet though so Wahada holds the title for now.
Anyway, you get loads of food for your money. I learned this the hard way the first time. The food is delicious and the wasabi is to die for!!!
Located just south of LSU on Nicholson, this should be the spot for a quiet little outing. There is a HOT little waitress there that used to work in New Orleans too...
