I had a very unpleasant experience at Cyclo Pho Restaurant on Broadway in Seattle on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 at about 1:30 PM. We picked that spot based on a recommendation / write up on theSeattle city-Search web site.
In brief : the host at Cyclo greeted us in what seemed to be very impersonal and cold, and then seated us even as other patrons near our table were loudly grumbling about the waitress not yet attending their table. We thought nothing at first, until the same thing happened to us shortly thereafter ! We waited more than 15 minutes and after seeing the host seat two more couples - they still hadn't come to our table, or the table of the folks who were there before us.
We got up and left when we saw even more people being seated with no service yet to our tables, and the party at the table behind us left as well. We all chatted outside about the poor service, the fact that Cyclo is ironically becoming a victim of its own success, and headed down the block to another Pho restaurant called "Pho 900", after one of the gals in the other group who left with us recommended it. This new location had an impeccable interior, polite and prompt servers and a better selection of Vietnamese cuisine. The food quality was super, the staff went around the entire restaurant giving out free cream puffs (not sure why, but it was a great touch) and the water was served chilled, with a slice of lime and in CLEAN glasses.
According to my visiting guest, who is Vietnamese- American, she said she was very impressed by the authenticity of dishes to the traditional recipe. Pho 900 would be the place I recommend to any one in Seattle or visitors to our city.
