Ninety Nine Restaurant located at 5 Salem Turnpike in Norwich, Ct., is a nice place for a family, couple, or even a party-of-one meal. The restaurant reminded me of a sports bar because there are tv screens placed so that sporting events can be seen from just about everywhere. There is a large bar that is somewhat separated from the general dining area, and it, too, has large displays with current games. On my recent lunch visit, the sound was not on, and this may be the way it always is, at least in the dining area.
Seating is generally in booths that are comfortable for four, so if you have a larger group, call ahead to see what they can do for you. The place was clean and cheerful.
Menu items are not unusual, so there should be no surprises, yet lots to choose from. Prices are what I would call reasonable for what you get. Our party of four adults received a bill for about $35 including tax.
Our drinks were of the soft variety, so it would have been more had we ordered beer, wine, or mixed drinks.
Service was friendly and good. The restrooms were clean. Parking is available in the lot, and everything is at lot level, so access is easy.
I learned that Ninety Nine is a chain restaurant with about 150 locations. It may be assumed that the corporate signature, including menu items and prices, will be about the same at all of their restaurants. If you like one, you are bound to be on the lookout for another when you're on the road.
My rating of four stars should be interpreted as "very good" for this class of restaurant. When lunch (per person) costs about $9 with tax, and includes refills of beverages, maybe even the fifth star should be lit.
I love their Sirloin tips! They are to die for......
I had their Irish Creme Coffee & A Deep Chocolate Dessert.OMG! What a dessert!! 5 Stars deffinetely!!!
The menu is varied and very good. You can find most anything you'd like. Service is friendly and prompt. "Call ahead seating" is recommended on busy nights.
