Just ate there tonight on a suggestion from a clerk at the pontiac walgreens. food wasn't that bad but the burgers could have been a litle bigger with bigger buns. buns looked small like hamburger buns you would go the grocery store to buy, also could have come with lettuce and tomato on the side. Seen they have alot of different menu items to choose from, but almost everything on the menu, if you make a change come with an upcharge, like having fries with the sandwiches and burgers instead of the included chips costs $1 extra, which is kinda of bogus.
Just home from dinner at Delongs. Will not be back. First, we were seated in the midst of a very noisy rehearsal dinner, which not only made us uncomfortable, but also made it impossible to carry on a conversation. Our table had just been wiped clean - we could tell because it was soaking wet and we had to use napkins to dry it. We waited a bit to have our order taken, then quite a while to receive our soups and salads, which arrived approximately 30 seconds before our entrees, giving us no time to enjoy them. Service overall wasn't too bad, and I do commend the staff for helping each other with their tables. The food was another story. I ordered the Honey Walnut Chicken, which was served over rice but still came with a potato - starch overkill. In the end, I'm glad I got the baked potato, since it was the only good thing on my plate. The French Onion soup was okay, although I had ordered it with the croutons and cheese on top (at a 50 cent charge) and did not get either. My piece of chicken was maybe 1/4 inch thick and was so overcooked and rubbery I could barely cut it. The rice under it had been cooked just as long. There was honey on the chicken, and a pile of walnuts on top of that - for some reason I expected some kind of honey/walnut sauce or for the nuts to at least have been toasted, but they were straight out of the bag onto my plate. My dining companions ordered the prime rib, which was chewy and expensive considering its quality. One person opted to pay the additional 2 dollars for the twice baked potato and deemed it unworthy of the extra money. The folks I ate with have had lunch at Delongs a few times, and said they would return for lunch, but definitely not for dinner. This was my first and last visit.
A charmer for casual dining in downtown Pontiac. This family-owned restaurant features a spacious upper level for larger parties or business dining at lunch, and limited seating downstairs, where a charming window view of the square is gorgeous, especially in the fall or as the snow falls. Seasonal outdoor dining is offered as well. Daily specials, and a large menu are complimented by the many ice cream/custard treats offered. The wait staff at times is young and lacks a certain confidence, but the food and atmosphere are something unique in Downtown Pontiac.
