The Outdoorsman is no longer : {: We used to stay at the Outdoorsman about every six weeks on our journey from Northern Nevada to Southern California. We always looked forward to our stays. The owners were both hospitable and professional. The gift shop and coffee bar in the front is still owned and run by the original owners. Our room was always very clean and comfortable. The two couples who bought the Outdoorsman are planning on turning it into a chain hotel. In the meantime they''re stripping the lower floor, and renting rooms by the month upstairs. From 11:00 pm until 4:00 am there was construction noise coming from down the hall. The next morning I was startled by an unsavory looking man loitering in the hall. A sign outside the lobby declared that the hotel is now a "Bed and Breakfast". The sign is half right. Beds are available, but the so called breakfast is limited to cheap coffee, cellophane wrapped cinnamon rolls, and generic cold cereal. Both times we stayed there (6 weeks apart) the new owners were rude and neglectful. This last trip (two nights ago) we stayed at another owner run motel in Bishop.
