I saw an article in the Herald about this place and thought I would try the Pazcki's for Fat Tuesday. Although they tasted good most of the ones I ordered had a dab of filling while only a few were filled with a lot. I was disappointed because they are expensive and I didn't spend a lot of money to get an empty pastry. I gave some to my sister and she said the same thing. She had some Paczki's after church on fat tuesday from a different bakery and said they were better and completely loaded with filling. It was worth trying but I think next year I'll go to the bakery my sister suggested from her church.
Being a Polish person, it is very hard to find good Polish food out here in the suburbs where I live. Most good Polish food is in the city of Chicago. However, Babcias is the exception. Located in Joliet, this is by far the best Polish restaurant I have been to outside the city, and trust me, I KNOW POLISH FOOD. Personally, I really enjoy the Polish pork chops they make. They also make very good stuffed cabbage from a family recipe. The sausage, fresh or smoked is very good as well. They have a fine selection of Polish deli meats and cheeses, as well as 2 grocery type aisles of Polish candy, cookies, breads, etc. Any Polish person should be proud to call this restaurant their second home if they live in the Joliet suburbs area.
Wonderful food...friendly people. Try it, you'll love it!
