The dim sums are pretty good but the waiters, waitress, front desk, mangers are very rude. As customer, we are there to enjoy some good food with our pleasant times. We are not there to fight. Hope the restaurant owner(s)train your workers.
Cannot believe the managers at this location are so rude to the Chinese customers. We had two tables for dinner here and one of them had mostly kids. The manager took our order and misunderstood that we wanted 2 orders for each dish. (Perhaps he was eager to make more sales??) We asked him to fix it before the order was entered into their system and he yelled at us saying we had 2 tables of people, not 1. He then walked away and asked another waiter to serve our table. We always dine out and like to order different types of dishes for different appetites. Why were we assumed to have to double our dish instead of ordering more varieties? No wonder it had no line of people at a busy Sat evening.
This is not the only bad experience. The other time was for lunch at the same location. Near the end of our dim sum lunch of 3 people, we wanted some boxes but no one was available. So I went to get them myself while my sister-in-law was trying to get few more dishes from the carts. Yet a different manager came to our table and questioned me why I took extra boxes. (He showed up at the time I didn't need their service!) At the same time, HIS HANDS WERE ALMOST LANDING AT MY BOXES PREPARING TO TAKE THEM AWAY. I had to stop him and said I was ordering extra dishes by pointing at where my sister-in-law was!!!! The burden of proof is on the customers?!
We had an opposite experience at the Harbor Kitchen near Valley & Garfield just about 2 weeks ago. We only had 3 people for dinner and our bill was much smaller. My husband ordered a strawberry milkshake but the glass was chipped at the rim. We called the waiter and the manager saw us. He came and asked the waiter to replace our order. He came back again a moment later and asked if we got our order replaced properly.
Hop Kee (Hop Li) has great food to offer. However, if the owners of this restaurant want to increase their business, I truly believe that they have to improve the managers' attitude and service. They are the ones who show their faces at the front.
good chinese food: dim sum lunch without the wait during weekday. can make it back to the office within an hour from pasadena! good to excellent reviews from all co-workers.
