Unfortunatley for the rest of us that live in the area are likely to recieve service you get from the mood swings of the owners and workers.Just last night 12/30/09 The owner was slinging a menu in my hand and not a kind word parted her lips. She was rude to one of the other customers as well .I guess this is not anything people who no the owner arent a custom to. Since a lot of us have known her for a while I guess she can afford to be a smartass since there are not alot of other options for people in Billingsley. On the brightside the food was good. BUT NO SERVICE WITH A SMILE

On a recent drive to Chilton County to pick up peaches I decided to sample the food at Fat Girl's. I had passed the little place on the side of rural Highway 82 and had commented that with a name like "Fat Girl's" it better have good food.

    I was not disappointed.

My companion and I had dinner plans in Birmingham that night so we decided to split a barbecue sandwich just to get an idea of the food. The restaurant is tiny with maybe five tables and each of us was served half a delicious barbecue with home-made tasty fries with just enough hot bite.

Since we were first-timers, the waitress brought out another plate of fried green tomatoes and fried squash so we could get a better idea of the small shop's offerings. Everything was exceptionally tasty and original road food.

Fat Girl's is open from 8 to 8 so I guess they have a breakfast menu also. There were many daily specials listed and I was surprised at how many dishes could be prepared from such a tiny workspace. The two ladies who were running the place were gracious and eager to please two customers who had just wandered in on a lark. The walls and shelves are covered with local and personal memorabilia and our short visit was a memorable and pleasing one. I look forward to a return visit when I have more time to linger and sample even more of Fat Girl's great home-style cooking.
