It was my sister's Birthday and she loves cajun cuisine. Her son was surprising her with a quick visit from NY and Sunday brunch with family in DC. He chose Acadiana because Georgia Brown's wasbooked(smile). He went online and Acadiana caught his eye. There were five of use ranging in age from 26 to 75 and we were all pleasantly surprised that we had never experienced this fabulous restaurant. Each of the (3) courses at Brunch left us impressed and trying to figure out how soon we could make a return visit. We have a new favorite restaurant! Now, that is a great compliment to your chefs, because we know and love good food...and we've all been to New Orleans.
This is what I wrote to the general manager on 6/22/09. I have yet to receive a response...
I recently dined at your restaurant for lunch. In fact, Iâve been there at list once a week in the past couple of weeks. Itâs my favorite restaurant in DC, and I welcome the opportunity to take a friend there if they havenât had your shrimp & grits.
Therefore, I was quite surprised about my dining experience at lunch today. I was sitting at a booth seat which offered a view of the kitchen area. While dining I saw a chef âdouble dipâ a tasting spoon in a dish he was preparing. When I told my server (Stephen 295), he informed me that the food he was for later on this evening. I told him it did not matter what time of the day it was, itâs unacceptable to taste food and serve it to a customer. As a result of his response, I asked to speak to a manager. The manager (Leland) told me they often use tasting spoons to test the flavor of the food. I clarified myself and stated I saw him (as did one of my dining participants) dip the same spoon twice. He apologized and stated he would speak to the person about the matter. However, before walking away from the table, he never asked what the person looked like. So I really doubt he spoke to anyone. In addition, he never stated that he would look into disposing of the food.
To be honest with you, Iâm really disappointed with your level of customer service. The prices and atmosphere do not warrant this poor level of customer service and the level of hygiene is certainly unacceptable.
I was so looking forward to a good cajun fried turkey this year. I used to make them myself. I ordered one for the family and was really disapointed.. Our bird was overcooked, too many burned and hard crust areas, and we never got the packet of spices to sprinkle on top that was supposed to be in the bag with the heating instructions...... I know it is work to put out a good product but you really need to watch the quality of the work you are charging for...fifty three dollars is a lot of money for what my family had to try to eat this thanksgiving.........
