Now THIS is a restaurant!: I stopped in 14 West without a reservation on a Wednesday night and couldn't get a table, so I sat at the bar. Lo and behold, it just so happened I was sitting beside the new owner of 3 weeks, Phillip. Great guy. I appreciated his visibility and how he greeted and checked on all of his customers, whether he knew them or not. And he seemed to know most of them. Jason, the bartender, was also very accommodating and we had great conversation about a number of things. And now, let's talk about the food. The downtown restaurants were running a special where you could get 3 courses for $30. I opted for that and had a salad, trout and cheesecake for dessert. The bread was their famous pretzel bread. To die for! I ate every single crumb. Absolutely delicious. And the portion sizes were perfect. When in Indy, I will definitely go back. And I might even make my accommodations in the suites/penthouse available on the upper floors. They're gorgeous! And I hear Phillip might even be flexible with the rates.
