Amazing service and awesome food!: We have been to Douzo over a dozen times, and every time it's been fantastic. The sushi is really good, and they've trained their staff very well. Everyone from the host/hostess to the waiters/waitresses.
It's a lot more mellow at lunch time, but the evenings are always packed if you're looking to dine in a cool, trendy environment.
Great Sushi in a Modern Environment: We're from southern California where you can find a simple or fancy sushi place on every corner, and have had a little difficulty finding a good place in Boston.
Douzo's fresh fish is superb, we had the yellowtail and tuna sashimi and it melted in our mouths. For the less adventurous, their creative specialty rolls featuring cooked incredients like shrimp tempura, etc. offered a variety of combinations of very logical ingredients, and was not too funky. Their sauces that accompanied some of the rolls was delicious!
The most important thing we found about their rolls is that the nori (seaweed) and the rice were perfect....not dry and chewy, like we have found at some of the other sushi places.
Don't be intimidated or fooled by the modern design of the restaurant. The food is great, and so is the service which creates a nice atmosphere to have a meal. The prices were pretty much in line with most sushi places.
Terrible!! far more wrost that i predict...: Food was horrible & very expensive. $2 for a piece of broccoli tempura & $5 for a piece of shrimp tempura. when it come out, the tempura is cold. Nigiri where kinda dry when i eat it (must left there for a while before serving). the worst thing is that the owner jack bring us some free appertizer (spicy seafood something) it kinda taste a bit sour. i will never return unless over my dead body..
