craig laban must have been drunk when he ate here, 3 bells are you mad sir. i don't get the hype here. i went in expecting a fantastic meal but everything i got was just okay. it was not the awe inspiring feast i walked in hoping for. first course was Sweetbreads with buffalo sauce which i must say were cooked perfectly the highlight of the meal. but my girl friend got the octopus which was kind of meh at least it was tender. we then proceeded to wait a good 45 mins for our main. normally i wouldn't care but we were literally the only people in the place! For our main course we got Skate wing and lamb. my skate wing was great lots of brown butter very simple but well done my girlfriend got the lamb she enjoyed it but the risotto was undercooked and kinda crunchy. after we finished our main course we sat there looking at our empty plates for a good 45 mins wondering where our waitress was. and speaking of the waitress, when asked a question every answer would be in the form of "well first he does this" or "well first he takes the octopus and he..." to which i asked the obvious question of "who the hell are you talking about?" with out missing a beat she replied "why andrew derry of course" of course how silly of me..... all in all i must give chef derry credit its obvious he uses very fresh local product i think a few changes to our meals and faster service would have made it the dinner i was hoping for.
We LOVE to try new restaurants and in the three years we've been in PA...tonight we have a new favorite ~ MAJOLICA ~ 258 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA ~ Ph: 610-917-0962
The food was outstanding! We also liked the decor with the Abstract Art.
We'll definitely be back!;-)

Truly Superb Dining Experience: Met up with another couple for our monthly dinner and this time we chose Majolica. What a great dinner! The atmosphere is alright, but one good thing is that people are NOT crammed into the restaurant. Food was outstanding! Started off with the cauliflower soup (very little cream) and my wife had the Seared Yellowfin Tuna. For dinner had the Hanger Steak! I am usually a seafood guy, stay away from red meat, but nothing was stopping me last evening! Best cut and taste of beef I've ever had. My wife got the Goat Cheese Gnocchi which was out of this world! Finished the night with Chocolate Souffle. Restaurant is BYOB, another nice plus.
If in the area make this a stop on your list. Also, we can't wait to head back and reserve a night with a 6 or 8 course tasting menu!
Lots of tableside presentation as well, pouring soup into your bowl tableside just 'adds' something to the meal!
