Five star service, four and a half star food. The restaurant has a outdoor balcony that overlooks the Nashville skyline and takes advantage of the beautiful evening weather. Priced upscale but certainly not unreasonable, valet is free. While the basic food items are excellent and portions are large for an upscale place, it seems that more attention went into balancing plating looks than ingredient ratios. The relaxed tempo of the wait staff really made the evening though, always providing something to nibble on without making us wait to long for the next course or crowding the table.
My husband and I encountered one of the most flavorful, satisfying restaurant experiences in a long time at Watermark. I must preface this by saying that I have a food intolerance to all glutens, flour, rye, barley and oats. Not only must I avoid eating anything made with these ingredients, they can not come in contact with my food during preparation. Once mentioned to our wait staff, Russ, I sat back assured that I would be taken care of. The pastry chef, Sam,very familiar with my needs came to our table with an on-the-spot specialy made order of steaming delicate cornbread puffs topped with a sprinkling of pecorino cheese. Melted in my mouth, no deprivation here! Thanks Sam! My husband had the rich she crab soup, loaded with chunks of crabmeat, chunks, not flakes. I opted for the grilled asparagus with lobster salad, cool and refreshing. We both ordered Corvina, a mild fish brought to life with a scrumptous garlic/butter sauce in which morel mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns and nutty fingerling potatoes floated about. As for the desert, a polished vanilla flan with a tangy rhubarb consumme' was creamy and sweet. The aroma of the coffee arrived prior to it being placed on the table. Perfect ending to an exemplary dining experience. The final touch of service was Tina, who had introduced herself to us immediately after seating, coming back to our table to ensure every need had been met. Above and Beyond.
Pricy? Not for the dedicated service and gratifying flavors we enjoyed. Will we be back? Absolutely.
Went to Watermark and was knocked over with how beautiful the place is. The views are amazing, even when a new highrise condo is being built across the street. I was very concerned with the menu choices, I don't normally have such fine dinning experiences. I ordered the tuna, it was so good. The appetizers were very good, the 1 item they always have, the grits, was very good, my favorite app, and I do not like grits! The wait staff was amazing, the only thing we had to ask for was salt. Refills kept coming! They even changed our silverware after the apps for the dinner. I believe it was very pricey, but you are getting upscale dinning and service with this. They do have a huge wine list, but it too was very expensive, but since I am not a wine person, it could have been very reasonable. Remember to make reservations, it got busy for a Monday night. Keep an open mind when going, the menu is a little different than what you are used to seeing around Nashville.
