the best chicago dog in california burgers are good as well, but come on go there for the dogs
Portillo's is the best! Fresh ingredients, good prices. The service is friendly and the restaurant is kept clean. We drive 40 minutes each way at least twice a month to eat at Portillo's. Anyone can make a hot dog, no one can make one like Portillo's! The same goes for their Italian beef, Italian or Polish sausage, burger, chopped salad and garden salad. Their french fries and their pickle spears are the best! Yes, I'm originally from Chicago but I've recommended Portillo's to many native Californian's that are hooked on it now. I'd love to see one in South Orange County. There is no fast food restaurant on the planet that can compare to the guality and variety at Portillo's. I've never had a bad experience there with food or staff.
Love this place. I lived in Chicago for three years while serving in the Navy and anyone who has ever lived in Chicago for an extended period of time falls in love with the city, the sports teams, the seasons, and the food. So when I heard that Portillo's was opening a joint in Buena Park, I was very happy. Let's face it, here in SoCal, we have great Mexican food and the finest fast food burgers anywhere with In-n-Out but where do you go for good Chicago food? There's a few places I won't name here that call themselves authentic Chicago restaurants but having gotten excited and then going there, so far, they've all fallen short. Ladies and gentlemen, Portillo's IS Chicago style food and the only way you'd be disappointed in Portillo's is if you simply do not have a taste for Chicago. The italian beef "dipped" with sweet peppers is frick'n AWESOME!! That and an order of cheese fries... mmm... good stuff. So far I've had the italian beef, the combo (italian sausage and italian beef together in one sandwich) the chicago dog, and the chili dog. The dogs are wonderful and I totally prefer the chicago dog over the chili dog. I'm slapping myself because I told myself that I would try every single item on the menu before becoming a "creature of habit" which normally happens to me when I find something I like and start getting that every time. I've now had the "big beef" four times in a row coming here because it is that good and I need to break away from that and try some of the other stuff, like the beef & cheese croissant and the maxwell street polish. Okay... next time... I promise. Next time I walk in there, I'm going to look away from the succulent slices of dipped italian roast beef and try something new. I can DO IT!! Seriously folks, you'd love this place. Check it out.

It's funny that you mentioned wanting one in South Orange Co. My wife and I were just checking Google maps last night to see how far Portillo's is from Dana Point. It looks like it'll be about a 45 minute ride for us when we move there from Chicago : )
This place is the bomb!! We need more in Orange County!!
