Go for the appetizer Red Sonja and fall in love immediately with this intimate restaurant. The service is top notch and very friendly. What a gem!!
the most romantic place in Astoria: super-friendly service, excellent food, terrific decoration, mundo is simply the best and the most chic place to hang out in Astoria.
Jewel? Sublime? Problem: food is average at best.: Here's our order:
1) Crab appetizer. Pretty tasty, but WAY too salty. And why give so little bread to dip? Bread is cheap.
2) Veggie burger. Comes with standard frozen fries and trans-fatty white-bread bun....might as well have gone to McDonalds. The pattie itself was bean based and decent, but bun unedible and fries nasty (unless Mcdonald's is your idea of good fries).
3) Chicken salad. Boring - a couple of sun-dried tomatoes, a little chicken, and a WHOLE lot of greens. How about some different veggies? ANY veggies? Oh, and they put drastically too much dressing on it.
So - Mundo is okay, but pretty overrated. 3 stars at best.
