I have been to this place about 3 times. It's nice if you don't feel up to city hustle and bustle. Its passable. The wines are okay and the food is ok, presentation, ok. Reservation or not, you will be waiting for a bit. I like different types of wine, I was not impressed by the selection, but if you want a casual night out, its ok. Do not expect Napa at this place, but its cute, its quaint, its ok.
I have been to Cooper's Hawk a few times. The food ranges from OK to very good, and the wine is passable. I recommend the wine flights, the cheese course and the steak. The sandwiches are acceptable and the desserts are a little too rich for my taste.
Although the food is passable, the service is consistently snooty, rude and slow, both from the hosts and the servers. I therefore cannot recommend you go there. Do so at your own risk.
We've eaten at Cooper's Hawk many times/we're wine club members/food is excellent. However, we used $64 of $150 Cooper's Hawk gift card 2 weeks ago, around(7/10/2009) with no problems. After eating dinner there last night, and giving the same gift card to the waitress to pay our dinner bill, the manager appeared about 10-15 minutes later asking how much we had left on card. We indicated we thought we had about $86 left on card. He then indicated our card was invalid, agreed to pay our $60 bill, but said we were out the remainder of $26 since card was never issued and then restated, not in a rude manner, but clearly unfriendly manner, that the card was invalid as though it had never been purchased and that this had absolutely never happened before. Both my wife and I clearly understood the intended meaning of this comment...that we had somehow come across a blank card and were trying to use it illegitimately. She indicated to the manager that she just might still have at home, the receipts for the purchase of the gift card and our previous meal. He gave us his business card and said if we could produce the receipts, to come back and he would correct. The waitress, which previously had been very friendly, returned a few minutes later with receipt for dinner bill, but now with an unfriendly demeanor. We believe her change in manner was simply because she thought we were going to stiff her for the tip, which we did not. Returning home, we did find all receipts....including the one for the original purchase of the card which contains the $150 amount, a transaction ID, and the serial# of the gift card. We then looked on the back of the card, and observed it indeed did have a serial number and matched the serial # on the receipt. I believe the manager will correct this since we have receipts for everything, and, we will eat at Cooper's Hawk in future as well as we believe this will be resolved OK. However, because the card was declared invalid by the manager, but then did have a serial# on it which one would expect both the waitress and manager to be aware of, and hence, transactions should have been easily traced back electronically to the original purchase by serial# - transaction ID - date/amount of gift card purchase and transactions against this card, but were not, I would not purchase nor recommend using a Cooper's Hawk gift card...or, at least using and carefully keeping all receipts as it is a fact for at least this instance, and hence most likely true, that Cooper's Hawk system can not be used to trace transactions via a serial # printed on the back of their own gift card.
