This is the finest restraint I have had the pleasure to enjoy. While the cost of the meal for four of us was in excess of $1,200 (the wine was exceptional), I would recommend you visit the Inn for dinner at least one time for a special occasion.
This is one of the most respected places in the country. Call ahead, and stuff your wallet, but they take food and service seriously and deliver you a high quality meal. You pay dearly, but then again at least someone in the area offers metropolitian quality food in a very soft setting.
So you walk into this (unassuming from the outside) restaurant and it looks nice enough. The customers are certainly dressed up as if their expecting something good. You are met with cordial service staff who are just the right amount solicitous-but-not-stuffy. You order from the menu, and here's where the story changes. What comes to you from the kitchen is 'basically' what you ordered, but everything is...just incredible. I don't know the right restaurant language...it's just that the preparation of every detail of your meal is exceptional. The flavors of every single item on your plate stand out as the most flavorful taste you've ever taken...and it's just the first course being served. The next course is even better than the first, and so on. Then there are those extra dishes brought out that you didn't order...just extra delicacies from the kitchen that are fun, tasty, and delicious...tiding you over to the next course.
This is one of those few times when the quality of the food takes your meal to the "experience" level rather than just a good dinner out. It's an investment, but you'll be thinking about it for years afterwards.
