We live in Topeka and started to get tired of the same ol' chain restaurants here so we did a little research online and after seeing all the good reviews it had we decided to give it a try. It was Sunday and after we got out from church we drove to KC with some friends. We finally got there and unfortunately they were closed. We were hungry so I checked the GPS to find some more Mexican restaurants. We ended up going to "Los Corrals". Man were we dissapointed after we were done, bad service as soon as we got in, had to wait like 5 minutes before anyone came to ask for drinks, and when we got the food it was nasty. It's a shame they call it Mexican food because it's not authentic. When we went to pay the guy was rude and they were more about getting our money than having us return some day.
This time we decide to go when they were open. Went Saturday night and I have nothing but good things to say about Teocali. Excellent service, unique dishes, and most of all it was delicious (had the shrimp tacos). We will be definately going again.
I loved it!! As a Native Mexican, this is as real as it gets! The whole beans (frijoles de la Hoya) tasted just like my mom's!! I had the shrimp tacos which I fell in love with, especially with the chipotle sauce. The amount of food was perfect, so was the atmosphere and most importantly the service was too!! I will definetly spread the word!!
My compliments to the chef.
The best Mexican food you will have in KC. We go there about once a week, sometimes twice a week. I've tried most of the items on the menu and have not had one dissapointing meal. Everything is excellent so it's hard to name one or two favorites. Try the Ceviche, Tacos Fritos, Enchiladas Verdes or Flautas Nortenas. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The bartenders and servers are great. They are genuinely nice and very helpful.

I cannot comment on the food or the place since I have not been there. Just wanted to mention that for being a native Mexican, Meli forgot her grammar. The correct word is "olla" not "Hoya". uugh!
