Roots. The name pretty much says it all. This small music shop in Sheboygan Falls is dedicated to the preservation of "roots" music through both sales of stringed instruments and accessories (guitar, dobro, ukulele, mandolin, violin, banjo, and whatnot) as well as guitar lessons.
Owners David and Laura are both friendly and knowledgeable. I had David do some work on an old guitar and was very pleased with his "get it right" approach to the work and his reasonable rates. While not a trained luthier, David is quite capable of most work and is a real godsend for an area devoid of any other such resources.
The store has a lot of niche items for aficionados of stringed instruments. Of particular "note" for guitarists is the killer deal on bulk strings â three bucks for a set of Martin strings in a neatly folded little brown paper bag! That alone ought to get you stop by.
Roots recently moved to a larger storefront just down the street from where they had been. The new space is much nicer and I know David and Laura have some interesting ideas for the shop. I hope they play out. (Okay, yeah, another stupid pun.)
Roots Music is a very nice small stringed instrument shop. Right now, they are open evenings and Saturdays. They offer instruments, lessons, and repairs. The owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Their prices are quite good too. I'd go out of my way to give them my business. I hope a lot of people do business with them, because I'd like to have them around for a long time.
My only connection to the shop is as a neighbor, guitar player . . . and customer.
Roots acoustic music company is a small store in sheboygan falls that specializes in acoustic intrument sales, repair, and lessons. I have recently started taking lessons and I was asking the owner (Dave) how long he played guitar. He answered by saying he has been playing for 18 years, considering he is pretty young that is quite a feat. He also told me that he went to a musical college in minneapolis. Roots is a cool place, check it out!
