Slice of PC...
Oasis is new but its Panama City's local bar scene incarnate: Well priced beer, strong drinks, no frills, minimum theme efforts and a mox of beach bum, hick, and working class stiff. We're a medium sized city and our bars are middle of the road: Able to please but nothing fancy.
If you're going out with friends, spouses or just drinking alone to get numb this is your place. Barhoppers and Lost tourists show up a lot more than other local hang outs (save for Newby's).
The drinks are what you ask for. If you get a drink mixed too thin, order a double and the bartender will get the idea. He won't even charge you for a double. If its too strong he'll give you a cup of whatever NA liquid is in it. Good service. The beer is well priced but if you really want you can just buy 6 or 12 pack from the fridge and drink it at the bar, just make sure to tip a lil bit more than you usually would.
The jukebox is alright and you might want to pack it in after 11 or 12 here since nothing happens after that. Head on to greener pastures like Newby's or a place with a dance floor.
Some things you marathon drinkers may want to do is open and close a bar this place is ideal. They open at around 11 so if you're up to the challenge stay there until last call. I did it a few years back and you meet a lot of people doing it. Just remember to keep a moderate pace and build up slowly. You'll wind up talking to dozens of people and the novelty of such a feat can garner free hooch and a picture on the wall. Actually there wasn't a camera at last call but I'll always remember it.
There is one thing thats seperates Oasis from every other bar/packaging store: Too much light. The place isn't glowing flourescent but it is brighter than I'd prefer. Bars aren't supposed to be well lit. If that were the case a lot of us wouldn't have been concieved.
Thats really the only beef I have with the place. From the standpoint of going to drink, getting what you pay for, and having a decent night you can't go wrong with Oasis.
