For starters, Dr. Ballagas is an orthopaedic surgeon so this could be a case of mistaken identity if the prior post referenced some sort of kidney issue. I can say without reservation that my experiences with Dr. Ballagas have been absolutely positive. He is kind, considerate and responsive in addition to being a great veteranarian and surgeon. My dachshund required back surgery in 2007 and she was very well cared for. She was actually misdiagnosed by our primary vet with a leg injury which was quickly determined to be a blown disc. Further tests confirmed her condition and surgery was the only way to spare our pet. We had a lot of questions which were very patiently and compassionately answered and we were definitely given very specific home care instructions (more than once), time frames for recovery as well as the prognosis of a positive outcome. I would highly recommend Dr. Ballagas to anyone whose dog required his services.
He operated on my pet solely on the internist's misdiagnosis. I don't believe he performed ALL the diagnostic tests required prior to a major abdominal surgery (X-rays or EKG. My pet was on heart medication for 4 years!). If he did, he would have found out that my pet DID NOT NEED SURGERY! He told me that he would keep my pet for 1 night and he kept him for 4 nights! Something went wrong and he never told me anything about it!
My pet DIED ONLY 3 DAYS AFTER HIS RELEASE FROM THIS SURGICAL CLINIC. He never gave me any prognosis when he released my pet to me and no instructions on how to care for my pet. He mailed the prognosis to me 3 weeks after my pet died and after repeated phone calls to send me copies of my pet's medical records, surgery and anesthesia protocols.
I checked this veterinary specialty hospital with the BBB. Everyone is welcome to check it too!
