    1) this place is "Just inside of MARION", it's not in meridian.

    2) it would be easier to find if the directions were right.
It is at the intersection of DALE DRIVE and MARION DRIVE.

    3) It's an excellent place to eat.
The #2 most popular restaurant in Marion.

In fact, only the "traditional southern fare" of Marion Kitchen, and the resistance to anything "different" by most folks around here, bumps this place out of the #1 position.

The chicken & biscuits folks don't know what they're missing.

Far Away Places, just outside of Meridian: The building is actually a double-wide trailer with a porch that runs the length of it - a converted former fishhouse. They feature favorites from Thailand's Bangkok region, sometimes have live entertainment (The Queen City Gypsies belly dancers performed when I was there). The walls and ceilings are filled to the gills with paintings, maps, statues, books, album covers and what-not from around the world. It's 'artsy', to the say the least. If they're not too busy Tim (the lady who owns the place) will come out of the kitchen to visit with her guests, discussing everything from thrift shop shopping to politics. Tim sticks to the Thai cuisinary basics, with a few personal variations she's learned from 25 years of cooking Thai-style for Meridian's curious and dedicated. She is proud of her results, and with good reason. Do not leave without sampling one of her homemade eggrolls and at least one of the amazing soups. The Pad Thai is excellent! The juke box is vintage and plays '45's'. The music choices are equally vintage and nostalgic. A unique experience. The food is excellent and consistent, the service entertaining and personal. Faraway is slightly off of the beaten path, and not your cookie-cutter predictable restaurant. But it's worth the five-minute drive away from Meridian's 'restaurant row.'

An excellent blend of casual and exotic! The Thai cuisine is divine and genuine, especially the "Crying Tiger" which I personally recommend, but I must say I've never had anything on the menu (or off) that wasn't spectacular. "Long Island Iced Tea" is also something you don't want to miss. Faraway Places is a always a great place to dine and drink.
