Been there once. Was not impressed at all. The one in Dearborn is no different. I heard this one charged a $20 cover fee for the tigers game on opening day. If that's true I strongly condemn that considering the prices for the food are outrageous already and this economy is hellish and to even think a man who has made millions in the NHL would charge his very fans that amount of money shows what kind of character he truly is. Glad he's not a Red Wing anymore.
UNSAFE
The 2nd time I've ever been to this place (6/12/09 night of Stanley finals) I was assaulted by a Detroit gang squad police officer for no other reason than asking a question. As a bar brawl broke out, 2 of my friends and I were near the scene and attempted to leave when I was pulled back by my shirt and beaten over the head several times. The bar's staff did nothing and I was cuffed and escorted out along with my friends who had no involvement whatsoever. I returned for my debit card and discovered that the staff had lost it.
I am a WSU student and work at Henry Ford Hospital main campus. I have NO criminal record and committed no crime at the scene, nor was I charged, only beaten.
I will NEVER patronize this place again; there is obviously ZERO protection nor consideration for its customers.
The company I work for has held numerous corporate events with clients in attendance at Cheli's Chili Bar in Detroit, and as of the last event, we will absolutely never return. The customer service at this bar is horrible, and it's not necessarily the staff behind the bar; it's the people actually managing the restaurant.
At our most recent event, we were treated like unwanted guests in someone's house as opposed to paying customers. When we voiced our concerns with how we were being treated, the responses were smug and management's attitude was indifference. What's unfortunate is that many of our clients are also industry leaders that host numerous events in the city of Detroit, and this last bad experience put most of us over the edge. Many of our clients commented that they'll never host another event at this venue based on how we were treated.
