Capri Restaurant

I fell in love with the location and food so much so that I have made it a must stop whenever I am traveling towards downtown Chicago. But this last visit was not good. I had made reservations for us and we did arrive early but was greeted and seated quickly. From the moment we were seated it became the "bum's rush" routine. Our waiter and the manager were constantly in eye contact with my friend and every time she laid sown her fork they wanted to pick up her food. She had told them no on several occasions to leave it as she needed more time to eat. She had one glass of wine with her meal and had wanted another but they came and removed her glass before she even fininshed it. We were very surprised by this activity as it had never occured before for me and this was only her second time to visit the restaurant. She is not a drinker by nature and I do not drink so her one glass of wine was pleasant but with her chicken dish she had wanted to sip on a second. Also they tried to take away our salads and we had to tell them no so that we could finsh them. All in all it wasn't a pleasant experience. I told the hostess that we were unhappy with the "bums rush" and wanted to know why they did this. She had no answer except to tell the manager. Because I do travel into Chicago on occassion for pleasure and usually bring along several women, we often stop for dinner but I will be very cautious and will probably never come back if it happens again. Food was good as usual.

HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU TRY IT! We love this place. If you like Capri keep in mind that each locationis not the same. Different siblings of the family own different restaurants and the food quality is not the same at each. This one however is AWESOME!! We visit regularly. This is truely authentic italian cuisine.

Had the same thing happened to me. Ordered a glass of expensive wine. Got a sweet white Zin instead. When I mentioned this to the waiter he tried to convince me that this was what I ordered... I never had and never will drink white zin. Food is overpriced and just OK Italian. Skip it.
