I brought my car here to have it diagnosed as to why it couldn't even be pre-tested and repaired. (I just purchased vehicle). I told the owner the codes that Union 76 came up with and he didn't listen (personally, I don't think this man listens to anybody). He came up with the same codes and said I needed parts that I didn't. I got a second opinion and it actually needed a TPS sensor and a head gasket which was totally different that what he said, He charged for a smog the first time and never even smogged it plus labor for doing research? When I confronted him he became agitated and angry that I took it to someone else for a second opinion and when I asked why he charged me for a smog, he replied well, isn't that what your intentions are? I said yes, but not necessarily with him. I took it back for a smog after the TPS was repaired and he still wasn't able to keep it at a steady rpm 2500 to 2700 and I told him that I was able to, so he had me sit in the car while he tested it to keep the rpm up and it worked. My car passed everything, except emissions and he admitted that my new mechanic knew more than he did and I should stick with him. He then said when the car is finished being repaired, just bring it back and I will retest it at no charge. I called him in August and he told me I had to drive the car on the highway for about 120 miles before I smogged it even though I told him I had already driven it to break it in 125 miles. After that he said bring it in Monday anytime and I will smog it. So I called back and asked if we could do it sooner and he said Thursday (as I wanted my husband with me) We drove 120 miles (past Corning and back) and dropped by to see if he could possibly smog it then, if not I said I could bring it back tomorrow. He got very agitated and mad and kept referring to "that KIA" and kept saying that if he smogged it again, he was gonna have to charge me and that I had been their 3 times, (which is a boldface lie). He didn't even attempt to look at the receipt or proof. He yelled at me, was very disrespectful, his face turned beet red and I told him that I wouldn't bring it back as he was a very poor businessman and that I didn't need to be abused by him. He has been this way all along. He's perfectly nice if you play dumb and don't ask questions. I had to pay someone else to do the smog, a really great shop, Steve's Auto and Ag and it passed with flying colors. I do not recommend this business, that is, Alternative Auto.
