I started seeing Dr. Wust when I got pregnant again after miscarrying twins at 20 weeks in January 2005. I was angry and frustrated at how I was treated by the OB/GYN clinic I went to for the twins, and I didn't want to go back there. A co-worker recommended Dr. Wust, and it was the best healthcare decision I've ever made.
Dr. Wust is a human being who just happens to practice medicine, and he's darn good at it. He once sat with me for 45 minutes to talk about some concerns I had regarding my medical history. He took notes and put information into the computer the whole time, but I never felt like he was more interested in the data than in me. I think his clinic might have even eaten the cost of one of my ultrasounds because the insurance company questioned the need for multiple u/s. His response: "Well, there's no medical code for 'lost twins at 20 weeks,' so we'll just have to figure things out on our own."
When my daughter was born in March 2006, I had to have an emergency C-section due to gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. He wasn't able to do the procedure himself, but I saw him the next day, and the first thing he did was ask where my baby was (my ex had gone to run some errands, and she was in the nursery because I had been told that I couldn't have her by myself for another day or so because of the mag sulfate IV). He told the nurses to bring my baby to me right away. I was so glad.
No one really likes getting their girly parts poked and prodded, but Dr. Wust (and nurse Jana!) are so friendly and put you at ease right away. If you don't like your current OB, or you are just looking for a new option, I highly recommend Dr. Wust. Even though he has recently joined the Allina system, he is still just as thorough, funny and caring as before.
Dr Wust is amazing!! He is not JUST an OB/GYN he is very knowledgeable is all fields of medicine, he has helped me with everything from acne to anxiety. I could not ask for a better doctor!!
Dr Wust is a god!! I had my son in 2000 and he called two weeks later just to see if everything was going "OK", It was not!! I was crying and couldn't stop and he talked to me and calmed me down and saw me that day, prescribed zoloft and probably saved my life. Three years later when I was expecting my daughter, he had obviously read my chart and got me started on Zoloft as soon as it was safe. When I brought her in for her pediatric check up, he saw me and my son, who was with me, in the hallway and he remembered my son's name!!! I don't know how he does it. His memory never fails, he's clairvoyant or something.
I'm so glad he has a new practice because I changed insurance and was going to a cheaper Dr, but now that I know he's up in CR, I'll drive up there for my appts. I live in St Louis Park. I'd drive to Louisiana for him. I'd like to have another baby just so he could deliver it.
