On a weekend drive through the backroads of central Kentucky, it was truly a serendipitous surprise to come across this wonderful upscale restaurant in tiny Springfield! Mordecai's would be right at home in Chevy Chase and we used to think we had to drive to Lexington to find a restaurant of this caliber.
The old, brick building is completely remodeled and beautiful inside and out. Decorated in real woods, subtle colors and horse racing and historic memorabilia, the dining rooms are open and well lit and the booths and tables comfortable. There is patio dining and a fully stocked bar as well.
Not being able to decide on entrees from the menu, we decided to try the Friday night buffet which featured prime rib, catfish, ribs and two kinds of shrimp as well as frog legs by request. Everything was hot, fresh and tasted homemade, including the vegetables, soups and desserts. I especially liked the juicy prime rib and the delicate catfish. My wife loved the frog legs and went back for more. Blackberry cobbler and a good cup of coffee topped off a great meal and a great deal.
Now having found this gem in the boondocks, we'll definitely return and tell all our friends about this rare find.
very good food, great service, everyone was professional. i will tell others

you have to own this place... or you're a writer or something, because you've used some ridiculous amounts of descriptive/vivid/flashy wording in this review, haha
