The Woodward is an embarrassment to city of Detroit. If you want to be overcharged, underserved, and overall disappointed, you have found the right restaurant. It is truly an insulting dining experience. The people who are writing positive reviews are either the owners themselves, on the take, were really drunk, or simply have no sense of taste or any idea what a high end restaurant should be like. I apologize for not giving any specifics, the list would be too long, but be assured it was very well-rounded sub-standard experience.
I am generally a very pro-Detroit person and as such wish most businesses to succeed but when the Woodward fails, which it must, the city will be better for it. If it doesn't it would only prove that sense, taste, and financial responsibility is void among the populace here. I hope I am wrong about that.
I have made the mistake of going to The Woodward on 2 separate occasions - Once for cocktails and once for dinner. The ambiance of this restaurant does little to compensate for the untrained staff and the grossly incompetent and dismissive management. The bar was out of many varieties of liquors and wines and the waitresses charged different prices than the bartenders. Moreover, the food was unimpressive, overpriced and inadequately portioned. I agree with the many other bad reviews of this restaurant and am certain that any good review was staged by the owners or management. Heed the warnings posted on this website and avoid The Woodward.
This is the kind of restaurant & lounge we need in Detroit!!!! Several of my friends were there for dinner and the food was excellent along with a very tenitive staff. Later around 11pm the music changed and some of the whos who of Detroit started to come in a WOW!! It was a blast!!!
