website is nice, when we took our family there for a sweet craving for the 1st time, disappointed in the customer service, cashier was rude, took along time to get the pastries, music too loud, and had to clean our own table. very DISSATIFIED! wont recommend at all!
I was unsatisfied with the counter help. I do not like feeling like I am being done a favor by ordering there, and that it is a huge inconvienience for the employees to get my order or to ask for napkins. Although their churros were good and fresh, the employees attitude sucked. I make it a point not to spend money at a place that treats me badly.
My wife and I went to Churrolandia after seeing a piece on it on Fox11 News. It looked inviting and seemed like worth a drive from Pasadena. Upon arriving, the place looked clean and well-appointed. The music was very loud and somewhat distracting, actually it killed the ambience. I'm a white guy of Argentine parents, have been around plenty of Mexican/Latino culture, food/music etc, so quite familiar with the typical "mex" bakery, love the stuff. All mex breads, sweets etc. The service was marginal, not a happy greeting, we ordered 2 churros with dulce de leche, and a strawberry funnel cake, a coffee(self-serve), which was good, and a abuelita hot chocolate. Took awhile to get order, we figured they were making everything right then and there. Funnel cake ready first, a bit weak on strawberry topping but generally good. The churros were a disapointment, hard, weak on the filling both in taste and quantity. Would we go back, defintely not, we get better churros at olvera street, not from the carts but from one of the stores there and their dulce de leche filling is great. Also good churros on the pier in Redondo Beach(where I grew up)
But trip to Whittier was worth it, we went to Village Sweets, a candy/confection store just down the street on Greenleaf Ave., we had seen a segment on it on the Peter Perfect Show(cable makeover show), Monica and her parents run it. We met her dad Sal, and he's great, spent time having us try samples of their homemade fudge, bought a pound & a half, along with a candy apple. He even recommended a wine store called Vinatero down the street and some Pinot Noir. We went down there and met Lisa who runs Vinatero, and sampled their wine tasting venue, outstanding, bought the bottle of Pinot Sal(Village Sweets)had recommnended. Also visited some other stores on the street. We were quite impressed with the little corner of Whittier. Definitely will go back for Village Sweets and Vinatero's and maybe to try one of the BBQs or Mex restaurants but will take a pass on Churrolandia. Better bakeries in East LA baby!

I am a Whittier local and live just down the street from Churrolandia. When this place first opened, their mexican bread was fantastic. They've since decided to sell many other items more than you're regular bakery. I agree that their customer service is LAX. There is no happy greeting or welcome when you walk in to the place. When you order something, it takes forever to get your order, when there is several people standing behind the counter. From what I've heard the owners of Churrolandia are both doctors so if you see someone walking around in scrubs (those are the owners). This place can be so much better if they stop selling so many other stuff and just focus on the BAKERY part of the business. There are several other great business on Greenleaf, so the drive down to Downtown Whittier is well worth it.
