RE: Floydâs Cajun Seafood / Beaumont , TX
I would like to file a formal discrimination complaint against Floydâs Cajun Seafood. On Thursday January 22, 2009. We the members of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church had reservations at Floydâs Cajun Seafood for 6pm celebrating our pastorâs 76th birthday. He is also my father. We waited an hour and half and were never seated. Other groups who were predominately white were seated before us on a continuous basis. This unfair treatment of our group is totally unacceptable. We request that something is done before a formal lawsuit is filed. Our group predominately African Americanâs included 25 individuals who witnessed this negative racial behavior displayed by Floyd Landry Jr. who is the son of owner Floyd Landry Sr. and his staff. Once it was determined that they werenât going to meet our needs after several request were made. We decided to depart from this establishment and take our business elsewhere. Upon our departure several of our members including myself heard Ann Walker a Cafeteria Manager say leave and take your business elsewhere with no remorse. Which is just what we did, shortly after arriving at Pappadeauxâs our group of 25 were seated within 20 minutes and treated with such great respect and dignity. I would like to also point out that Pappadeauxâs was extremely busy upon our arrival and still managed to accommodate us with the use of folding tables and table clothes, after hearing our horrible experience at Floydâs Cajun Seafood who humiliated us with their unfair practices of equal treatment and justice for all.
Sincerely,
Kenneth W. Franklin
On friday nite me and my boyfriend ended up at floyd's. Lets see where do i start. First let say this place is a "Cheer's" want to be...where everybody knows your name but because of the so call regulars there is no room in this place because your regulars take so much space at the bar that even on a rainy nite there is no room in the place for us people who are not regular they cater to them and them only so you guessed it cold and rainy is how you end up because you have to wait outside . it took us 3 hrs to just get seated, place an order, get our food and wait on the waitress to stop having a casual conversation with of course "the regulars" The food was over rated and my Calamari was cold.....I'm from New York and having to hold my tongue about this place to a manager was hard but not tipping our waitress who we saw maybe 3 times that nite was better them telling everyone off in this place. Beware if you not a regular you will not get treated like a real customer...I still have a question though, does it really take 20 min to get ranch dressing???????
Go to a car show in this area ever year, and due to the good yahoo reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Two others and I ate here and we all loved it. It is in a pretty nice shopping mall and looks like a cajun seafood restaurant should look like, fun and a little rustic. We started off with some crab stuffed jalepenos and they were amazing with tons of seasoning and flavor. For dinner I had the Crawfish half-n-half, which was great although the ettouffe was not the best I've ever had and typically a little bland. The fried seafood we got however (crawfish, softshell crab, snapper) was absolutely perfect and not greasy at all. Everything was well seasoned and a ton better than any of us expected for a very mainstream feeling seafood place. I must say the service was also some of the best I have had, and we only had to wait for about 10min to sit down. It was a little before 6pm on a Friday, and I wouldn't doubt this place would be extremely packed later in the evening on most nights.

Floyd's is very small....25 people would take up majority of the tables.....assume these folks wanted to eat together and waiting for that many tables to get free at the same time would create a problem.....but then again that makes sense........
I worked for Floyd for 20 years and he is not a racist, he always said to me" Dawg every bodies money spends" meaning all customers are welcome, and he grew with black friends. You are mistaken! Troy
Ditto, let's not always blame everything on racism everytime something doesn't go the way you want it to. I'm and AmericanAmerican and I was in Beaumont this week and had lunch at Jaxx. Jaxx resturant is owned by and American and he just happens to be black. I'm white American and he treated me just like the black American dinners. So don't think everyone in Beaumont is a racist. Maybe you are a racist for thinking that just because the resturant owner is a white American and you didn't book reservations and get instant service that "Dawg" is a racist. "Look in the Mirror Lady" and stop blaming everything on racism.
