Applebee's Neighborhood Grill

very unhappy: When eating out (special times) we try out the local area establishments. Applebee's was a first in this area. First we were asked if we wanted smoking or non-smoking and if it were for two, we said yes to the two but were seated in a smoking section next to the bar. (first strike) My husband ordered the chicken,peppercorn, pretzel club sandwich and I ordered the two specials together, sirloin steak and shrimp. My order was appealing but the steak was slightly under cooked no biggie but my husband's order wasn't anything it claimed to be. It basically was just a chicken sandwich w/ ham. No peppercorn or pretzel or bacon, so wanting to try something different was not happening.(second strike) The manager or assistant did come over to find out what was the matter when we brought the waiter's attention to the deletion of ingredients of the sandwich. He suggested we send it back and have it "fixed"or another sandwich but I have seen some pretty upset cooks in the years I have spent in food management, and as a cook who has observed bad behavior in some cooks, so sending the food back was not an option. My husband told the assist/manager to forget it. In my years of experience, with customer service to make a customer happy, I would take the sandwich off the ticket. Another thing is we ordered drinks, Coors draft, when the drinks were brought to us the waitress sat them down saying they were two Coors LIGHT drafts, we mentioned we ordered Coors regular not light, she then explained that they do not have Coors regular in draft, only bottle. If we were told that in the beginning by the waiter it would have made things somewhat more pleasant. She said she was sorry that the waiter wrote Coors draft and assumed Light. We didn't want the light but accepted them.(third strike) To me the wait staff was not clear in the choices, and the Kitchen staff was unfamiliar with the sandwich setups and was sending out the wrong sandwiches per orders. We do not want coupons or cents off for this review but would only like the next customer to be better fulfilled than we were. After spending over $31.00 for drinks and meals this was not the place to which I or my husband will return to in the future and considered it a bad choice for our special time.(fourth strike). I suggest that comment cards be put at each table so each establishment will know how they rate at the time instead of sending it by the internet.
