The bistro we can't live without: My husband and I have been big fans of Pangea for over a year now, thanks to Charles Ferruzza in the Pitch for his review. As far as we're concerned, Pangea is the best kept secret in Kansas City - five star food at three star prices. The owners, Wendy and Martin Rudderforth, have created a perfect jewel box of a restaurant. The menu is well selected, spanning the globe in a series of "small plates". The size doesn't matter because the tastes are so complex and perfect that you are satiated. I love their Pad Thai, while my husband is addicted to the Jerk Pork Skewer and the Paella. One can easily have a great three-course meal for under $20, of a quality to compete with any of the more expensive restaurants in town. The desserts are unusual and range from the Banana and Nutella Crepes (quite simple but incredibly tasty) to the Panna Cotta to my personal favorite, the Mil Hojas which is a Napoleon-style dish made with meringue and dulce de leche. Once a month, Pangea hosts a beer tasting dinner which is usually four courses of great food paired with the perfect beers. At $30.00 per person, this dinner is a total steal. Our only wish is that Pangea would be open on Sundays, but the staff deserves their day off! They also do catering and I would not hesitate to have them cater an event for my family, friends, or business. Located in a small strip mall on 39th between Roanoke and Southwest Trafficway, there's plenty of parking. Pangea is open for lunch and dinner and is well worth the time you spend there.
Amazing: I recently visited Pangea and was blown away, i'm a culinary arts major at jccc and was thourghly impressed. Might I also add the Lavender Pana Cotta was to die for. Take friends, take a loved one or just yourselft to this jewel right near westport.
Pangea rocks: There is no other place in KC like this. Great ambiance, awesome beers & great food selection!!!
