User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI just had my very first tattoo done last week and it was a decision that was years in the making. A friend of mine has had Jim do more than one tattoo and I liked hers, that convinced me to go to him. I'm absolutely thrilled with how mine turned out and I compliment Jim on his talent and professionalism. He made me feel totally at ease, is very good at what he does and I would highly recommend River of Ink to anyone who is interested in getting a tattoo.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsJim tattooed my mom and I in August, and I am beyond impressed with the entire experience. These were both our second tattoos, and Jim's makes our first ones look like a child drew them with a crayon. The detail and pure artistry that went into the tattoo Jim gave me was beyond anything I could have imagined. I feel like I have a work of art on my back, not "just" a tattoo. People literally drop their jaws when they see it. If you are looking for someone to do a realistic animal tattoo and you go to anyone but Jim, you WILL be disappointed.
All this could easily overshadow something else equally as important: The Shop. Jim's shop is perfectly sanitary, and aesthetically pleasing. Even though it was my mom and I getting tattooed one after the other and we're related, he still took the time in between our tattoos to completely sanitize the work area and used new instruments. I can't tell you how impressed I was by Jim's sanitary standards.
And of course, as others have mentioned, Jim is just a really nice guy! Good conversation during the tattoo, and very kind disposition towards my nervousness. All around good guy!
The point of the review is: If you don't go to River of Ink to get your tattoo...then you're ridiculous. Jim isn't just the best in the Fox Valley - I would challenge anyone to find a better tattoo artist anywhere. I know, I've looked!
