"The Charles" is a SUB STANDARD venue!~
*Warning to brides* Don't invest in this venue if you want creative control of your wedding and all other events that follow.
The last wedding I worked there, the staff insisted that things be done their way. There is a total lack professionalism to say the least.
It was not a good wedding.
Bottom line: You can find more afforable venues that are much nicer and clean. With a professional staff that will not only work with you, but work for you.
It was a bad situation for all of everyone.

Using this event venue was a disaster for our wedding. We booked way in advance, and our contract was cancelled 4 months before the wedding. The reason given for cancelling turned out to be a lie. There are many other places in Johnson City that treat you a lot better. I would never use them for anything again!

I would like to know more about your situation, as we also have The Charles booked for an upcoming wedding. Do you have a way that I can get in touch with you? Hope you see this!

My husband and I just recently got married at The Charles. The service was excellent, the decorations were perfect, and the staff was amazing. The building itself has a lot of historical and artistic value. Its history goes all the way back to the 1920's when it used to be a department store. Its hard wood floors and crown molding add to its grandeur. We decided to do our ceremony and our reception there. We had a small and romantic ceremony (110 people) and the place was perfect for what we wanted. The place can hold larger receptions as well.

The staff was very professional and made sure that everything was exactly as we planned. My husband is from India and we wanted to get married under a mantap. The owner of The Charles placed it in our contract and we had the most amazing mantap for our special day. They also made sure that the Chocolate Brown linens, ivory overlays, burgundy napkins and ivory china were exactly how we wanted it. They coordinated with the caterer, the florist, and the baker to make sure that everyone arrived in adequate time. They even covered details that we completely forgot about. We had asked for candles and low lighting and our wedding ended up being more beautiful than we could have possibly imagined.

As far as the price goes, The Charles is one of the most reasonably priced halls in all of the Tricities. All of the linens, tables, china, chairs, etc. are included in the price. They also set up and decorate everything. Because everything was so reasonable, we were able to have a wedding that would have cost lots more if we would have went elsewhere.

On the big day, I had a wonderful Bridal room to wait in. The staff made sure that an aisle runner was placed down to make sure that my dress stayed nice. They also made sure to straighten my dress before I made it down the aisle. At the reception our family and friends continued to talk about how beautiful the location was.

The only issues that some of our friends and family had was with parking. The Charles has use of a parking lot directly behind them. Because it is downtown, it can be difficult to find. In addition, although we put the Parking lot directions in the invites, we should have put more signs around the parking lot to make sure that most everyone was able to find it. All in all, the area makes a great place for pictures. It is a unique location and your guests will be surprised by how lovely it is.

I highly recommend that you check out this banquet hall. They will make sure that you have an amazingly beautiful wedding!
