User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDuring these tough economic times I try my best to frequent locally owned establishments whenever possible, and I'll go back if the food, service, and price is right.
You know, over the course of my life, I find myself getting hungry on a regular basis. Seems like it's almost daily. Probably why I spend alot of time at the Red Onion.
I enjoy the food, which is upscale, but not too pricey. The salads are fresh and abundant, the entrees plentiful, the atmosphere laid back. The service is usually spot on, even when they're busy. And they're family friendly, which means you don't have to worry about someone bustin' some heads over some little silly somethin' or other. A nice family place where you can take the kids and still check out the local action when the misses excuses herself to go to the restroom, which she says is clean.
They even have live entertainment from time to time on the weekends.
All said and done, I stop in several times a month, throw back a few, have a nice dinner, enjoy some good music, and leave full and content.
Wonder what's goin' on there tonight............
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI really like the red onion. The food was really good. My boyfriend said it was the best burger he'd ever had! The onion rings are awsome. It's definitly homemade, this isn't chain stuff. We went because I read it was one of the best restaurants in Gainesville in the Scene Magazine and I would agree. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, it's not expensive looking but it's a casual place so???? Get some friends and go, judge for yourself! (try the watermelon mojito! it's the best!)

Hit or miss: Stick to the salads, soups and sandwhiches on this one. The fancier entries just aren't as good. On the whole, the food is cheap, gets served quickly and the waitstaff is usually good.
It won't be the greatest grill you've ever eaten at, but the food is reasonably priced and tasty.
Atmosphere: the lighting is nice but everything else is cheap-looking, including the floor and chairs. It's very casual.

Stoopid, do you work there? You have obviously never been there to eat. This is a ridiculous review, you must have been my waitress. This place totally blows. "The service is usually spot on" yeah right! My left butt check too;
