I was just forcibly removed from Elliot Street Pub. I was a guest of a friend of the Altanta Photography Group who showed up on tuesday with about another 30 other people to fill this little pub which can seat about 12 people inside at the bar.
They have an honor beer keg for $3 a beer which is mostly foam and almost not worth the effort. So much so, my friend ordered bottled beer the rest of the night.
We all ordered a sandwich, despite the $8 pricetag was good despite the deli white wrapping paper, heavy on the bread, and no sides.
As a long tern veteran of the neighborhood (I lived there 13 years ago before marriage and children) I even complimented Michael, part owner of the bar, on the decor and character of the pub despite the prices and seedy location.
Around 12:15am, I ordered another honor beer and paid $4,50 including tip to the bartender and put $5 in the jukebox while waiting for my photog friends to wrap up their photo shoot outside. Almost immediately after I paid for my beer and music, Michael turned off the jukebox. I asked him if he could turn the music back on but lower since I just put $5 in the jukebox. He said they were closing the bar and tossed me a $1 bill. He then walked around the bar and forcibly pushed me out of the bar with Peter (his brother and partner) in tow to the astonishment of my two friends. I'm pretty thankful that I didn't get a back eye out of the ordeal.
Considering the $100 we personally spent that evening, the high prices, the foamy beer, the attitude of the owners, the poor location, the insecure parking lot- PASS! Go somewhere else close by that deserves your hard earned money, like Six Feet Under, Tacqueria del Sol, or one of the many other great pubs and bars in downtown Atlanta.
If you like being bullied for overpriced food and foamy draft beer, Elliot Street Pub is the dead end street you're looking for...
Great wee pub: Thanks this place i great
