Don't go to Magictan, the people that work at the front desk are COMPLETE bitches, they never say hi or even smile. The level one bed sucks baadd and the one they kept putting me in had no facial so I had to flip my body around each time I went in the bed, and NEVER got tan. The rooms have cracks between the door and wall so you can see straight through and its not worth the money you spend. The ONLY thing good about this place is the location, and that's only if you live close to downtown or on campus.
This is the best spray tan I have used. I havenât been to every place in Columbia, but I have been to at least three other places and used this place before they got the versa spa. The Versa Spa (on maximum) is the darkest I have ever gotten in a spray tan, and I have used the darkest level on other booths. One time that I went I did not get any color due to the spray being low or out (in my opinion). This is why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. I called and the manager authorized a free one for me which was the dark color that I usually get from them. How a place takes care of a service issue says a lot about the place and I appreciate that they took care of it. Iâm booking my mom and my sister spray tans this weekend. Neither of them has tried one before and I want them to see how nice it is.
The beds here are great. It is overpriced if you are going for just one tan. They do however offer 1 week tans for free. I text messaged them and got a free week any level, a free 20 minute massage, and 20% off my lotion purchase. Things like these offers make it affordable.
Also, their monthly packages are the cheapest I have seen in a while. $30 for a level 3 unlimited. $15 is the cheapest for a level one. FYI their level one's compare to level 2 or 3s at the Tan Co.
A bad thing about Magic Tan is the people working there. I haven't met them all but there are two girls so far that I have talked to and they are rude. I advise not to go tanning in a bad mood. They are very short and don't care what you have to say. I tried small talk but she looked at me like I was in the wrong place to do that. Excuse me for growing up in a small town where people are nice. I will however give them the benefit of the doubt because there were about 10 other people in there trying to talk to her too. It just wouldn't hurt to put on a friendly smile :)
Oh, and another thing to think about is the waiting times. I walked in and waited 30 minutes before I got to my bed. It is wise to make an appointment before you go in. Its really easy and you can get an appointment made within the hour. I would really take advantage of calling in.
Last but not least is the parking. It is hard to park there. I had to drive around for a while before something opened up. It is all street parking by the meeter. Oh and the sign for the place is oddly placed. The sign is on the front of the building but you have to walk around back to get it.
So, that's my review! I gave it a 4/5 because of the silly things that make it bad like parking. Other than that it is really a nice place to tan.
*****I have an update!! There was a man there and a young girl and they were working together and they were so nice. There was a mistake in somebody's appointment and she just HAD to have the bed she wanted so he complied. This happened to push my appointment back a half hour. I didn't mind what bed I went into, I mean, this whole week was free for me. So I just went into a level 2 bed and upped the minutes by 3 so I would get just as tan.
The man felt so bad he offered me an extra day for free. I didn't take it because I don't have the time for it but it was so nice for him to do that. He and his co-worker today were so nice. They made me feel just as important as the next and they really impressed me. Therefore I take back my bit about the rude staff because it isn't entirely true.
