What started out as a disaster, ended up being the nicest dinner experience of our trip to Nashville!
I'm terrible with names, but if the staff reads this, they will know who they are and who we are.
So, we stopped in for dinner and ordered catfish. It arrived WAY raw. BUT READ ON!!! The MGR/Bartender came to our table immediately and was very appologetic and asked what she could do to make our stay better. We declined and decided not to have dinner. However, she asked for a second chance to serve us another night and said that dinner was on her. I am so glad that we returned! The service was fantastic, and the food was awesome! We started with the sampler which was delicious. My wife had the soup and salad and I had the AWESOME tuna...sushi grade, medium rare...made to perfection.
This was a 180 degree turn around. The most enjoyable and tasty meal of our stay in Nashville!
Thank you girls, it was our pleasure!
Excellent Value for an Excellent Meal.....: We were recently in Tennessee visiting my Grandfather and uncle, who live near Nashville. Hubby is a big fan of Catfish and Grandpa had some good restaurant ideas - none of which were open. One of the suggested places was down the street from the Caney Fork Fish Camp, and we just decided to go there. I'm glad we did.
The waitstaff was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. We had a eight people and they seated us right away near, much to the delight of the children, a nice little pond with a waterfall and fish. The decor managed to somehow be interesting and rustic while looking upscale. Loved the fire pit and the pond.
We ordered the sampler appetizer (catfish nuggets, onion rings and something else that never made it down to me) and they brought corn fritters along with it. I can't eat corn (allergic) but Hubby and uncle couldn't stop themselves from reaching for the basket again and again. Because of this allergy, I consulted the very friendly waitress about the menu and she was very knowledgable about the ingredients in the varied dishes.
I wound up ordering seafood pot pie and it was wonderful. The menu was not extensive but what they did, they did right. My dad ordered the ham steak which came in a giant skillet. My niece ordered catfish nuggets from the children's menu and she's usually one not to eat much, but she wiped them out. Hubby, Grandpa and Uncle got blackened catfish. The only one unhappy with her meal was my mother. She ordered meatloaf and it had a gravy on it which kept her from slathering all the taste out of it with her usual bottle of catsup. She wound up eating dear little ones mac and cheese because the serving was just too generous for a four year old.
I won't even go into the dessert. It was just too good for words. It was a deep fried apple thing that lives on in my memory.
When I got the bill I was amazed to see how little this fabulous meal had come to. Under $100 usd for 8 people - and we'd all gotten dessert, soda or coffee and an appetizer. Excellent value for a really excellent meal. The service was also outstanding. We plan to go back anytime we're in the area and hubby says that next time he's going for the blackened grouper sandwich.
