Authentic dimsum for a reasonable price. It doesn't have the frills of a nice restaurant but the food is great! Unfortunately, Chef Chan Tea House closed its doors last year. :(
I've been wanting to go here for quite some time, and after reading these reviews made it a point to go. WHAT A MISTAKE! It was completely and totally AWFUL! The service was mediocre and the food was terrible. I had fried squid that tasted like it was fried on a dirty grill. I had steamed shrimp dumplings that, when we ate them, we immediately thought,"this is what a whale loogie tastes like". The egg drop soup was decent, as was the seafood rangoon. Granted, it was affordable, but I just spent $35 for food that I'm giving to the cats in my neighborhood. They have a Zagat's rating but I can't understand why. Maybe since it was at 4 PM on a Saturday afternoon, the good staff was not working. The restaurant was near empty so maybe I came at a REALLY bad time, but I will not make the same mistake again. I will stick to what I know from now on. Bei Fang is more expensive but the food is awesome.

Bei Fang?!?!? hahahaha!!!! typical same thing you can get anywhere amercanized "asian" style food. Golden Wok on Wurdzbach is good. Vietnam on broadway also (service sucks though).
What a surprise - restaurant now has a "For lease" sign out front... Both Golden Woks (Wurzbach and Marbach) are delicious - great value for lunch. I recently stumbled on Royal Inn on Babcock, also delicious. I did not have a good experience at Chef Chan's and I am sorry because I had been wanting to go there forever! I was extremely disappointed. PS - I have not EVER worked in the food industry so you obviously have me mistaken for someone else.
