Network Associates Coliseum and the Arena
(510) 569-2121
7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, CA94621Get directionsCross Streets: Near the intersection of Coliseum Way and 66th Ave
This complex has a 62,500 seat stadium and a 19,200 seat arena. The stadium is home to the Oakland Raiders and the Oakland A's, as well as home to the Golden State Warriors. Many major concerts are also held here.
Speactular and Awesome team, not so great stadium: This is the current home of the Oakland Athletics, who are vastly underrated and really deserve a better home then this outdated multipurpose stadium.
It actually is kind of an interesting feel to go to a game here after attending lots of games in the Giants new ballpark. But that football team that plays here and it's owner really messed up what could possibly be left of the charm of the Coliseum by building the atrocious Suite monsterousity in the outfield referred to as Mt. Davis. This piece of utter disdain now blocks what was a beautiful view of the Oakland Hills. Boo hiss.
The A's however really deserve better. They are an awesome team and I would suggest a visit because the team is great (and better and more interesting then the Giants imo) and the fans are diehard. You can actually drive your car here and park in the massive lots unlike The Giants park. Tailgating is actually encouraged here. It almost makes me wish I wasn't a San Franciscan without a car so I could go here more often. If you are from outside of the Bay Area and want to attend, buy Infield MVP or Field Level seats; it really is the most worthwhile way to see a game here with the configuration of the Coliseum having some odd obstructions and the bleachers are about a mile away from the batter.
I went to the one playoff game here during the 2006 ALDS playoffs and it was simply the BEST game I have ever attended. And I've been around - I used to live within walking distance of Wrigley Field, lived in San Diego when the Padres played in Jack Murphy, etc.
Just go even if it's a lousy venue because the team is absolutely awesome. It's just a real shame that Oakland couldn't gather up enough steam to keep them in Oakland. Their new ballpark was suppose to be built in Fremont but that idea has been nixed. I think this is a team in danger of staying in the Bay Area.
Is 3 tablespoons asking too much????: Went to a Warriors game and forgot to eat before attending. Dumb, I know. So went to the snack bar and ordered a $5 hot dog, tittled "Jumbo". It was the same size as a weinerschnitzel or Am Pm mini mart hot dog. Forget it. I saw a previous customer leave with a order of chicken tenders & fries. It looked like a lot of food and it was only $3 more than the hot dog. So I was down. Lets do it.
Problem. The employee only offered up 1 little container of dipping sauce for 3 chicken tenders. I asked for a extra one and was turned down. Not even could I buy an extra one.
$8 for chicken tenders and cold fries and u cant serve me an extra 3 tablespoons of ranch dressing or honey mustard?????
