Probably one of the nicest zoos I've ever visited. The collection of animals are plentiful.
While visiting faimily in Portland recnetly, we had a chance to visit the Portland Zoo. Even though we missed about 25% of the exhibits due to time, I have to say that I was very impressed with the layout and physical beauty of zoo. Espeically nice is the northwest exhibit which is a fantastic presentation of local animal and plant life. It really feels like your're hiking in the forrest as opposed walking through a Zoo and you get to expierence encounters with birds to Cougars.
Some of the space for the animals we a little small (the Cougars did not seem to have a lot of roaming space), but otherwise a great zoo. Really good for kids as they have a petting zoo and you can take a train that runs though the park to the Portland Rose Garden too. In the same vicinity as the are a number of other places to visit including the childerns discovery museum.
Wonderful Zoo!: I went to this zoo for the first time last week and it's a GREAT zoo!! There are a LOT of different animals and it's a very clean zoo. I LOVE the "Winged Wonders" exhibit - (the butterfly exhibit), but it's obviously seasonal. This is a great place to take your kids! I highly recommend it!
