My wife and I have enjoyed Palace Pizza for years. We have frequented the downtown location loving their hand tossed pizza. Last night we tried one of their newer locations, this one is on the north side of Lakeland in the old Jaybirds Barbecue building. The restaurant is nicely decorated with beautiful wall murals. When we sat down and ordered our drinks. We were served plain baked pizza dough with a red tinted liquid that tastes like water. The pizza dough was acceptable as an appetizer but I have no idea what the reddish tinted liquid was supposed to be. We next ordered our food, my wife decided on the pasta fagioli, I was looking forward to my favorite pizza. After about a half hour I asked where our food was, they commented, they gave my wifeâs order to someone else, however, at that point our dinner was served (it would have been nice to know what was going on). My wifeâs pasta fagioli was nothing more than white beans with what looked
like the white juice that comes with a can of white beans, no meat, no red beans, no pasta, no taste, it was awful. My pizza was supposed to be supreme with five toppings. I have had more ingredients on a one topping pizza. The sauce wasnât very tasty either, must be the same red liquid for dipping your plain pizza crust. Poor service, poor food, not recommended. My colleague at work said he had a similar experience when the north side restaurant opened over a year ago, he had ravioli which tasted âChef Boyardeeâ. I will still frequent the original downtown location and highly recommend their pizza. I only wish they expanded there operating hours on the weekend.
Palace is locally owned. Their success has stretched them to 3 - 4 locations locally. Their food is authentic, their specials are definitly SPECIAL. I have never had poor service, or bad food at any of their locations. Try the garlic knots with an extra side of sauce! ^_^
Great Food....However the owners could use some guest/employee realation skills!!!!

I agree w/ florida boy- I go to the S. Florida and the Sheperd Rd sites. Good food but need to work on customer service. I have found specific people to work with and thats who I look for.
