Company Information: Whether you crave sushi or something fried, your palate will be satisfied at Cha-Ya Vegetarian Japanese Restaurant. Here the local folks and avid vegetarians and vegans alike from across the city sit down in a simple yet bright dining room to chow down on vegetarian dishes akin to what is served at Japanese Buddhist temples. Try their popular Shitake and Spinach Roll, or even one of their noodle dishes such as the Kinoko which is served with shimeji, eryngll, portobello, and oyster mushrooms and your choice of udon or soba noodles. Many items are served a la cart or can be ordered in combinations. Though the service is not noted for its speed, a good attitude and good food usually compensate for the long wait.

Definitely worth a visit multiple times ..: we went there for lunch with a group of 5 and ordered the different lunch specials. the food was quite excellent and incredibly tasty. the broth of the miso soup (and the other soups we ordered) were very flavorful (better than the good japanese restaurants in the city.
The sushi rolls were tasty, though quite a few of the stuff is lightly deep fried with a nice batter. some of the excellent dishes include the cha ya roll, the udon with wild vegatables, the brown rice with veggies and the stuffed eggplant
happy chowing ..
Excellent!: I'm really excited to know about this recently opened restaurant.
This place is great. Flavorful food, lots of variety (the menu is several pages long). We had pot stickers, veggie sushi rolls, and a clay pot of tofu and veggies. Everything was great. Only drawback is parking in the Mission. Oh, and they're waiting for their liquor license.
