Beware of this restaurant. If I were to say the food and service is unpredictable--it would be an understatement. This was my second experience and it will be my last. My first experience was a while back when they were smaller and it was a good experience. I went there with a small group last night with a 5:30 reservation and was seated promptly. Our waiter took our drink order and dinner order. The waiter brought us rolls-- 2 rolls for 4 people--promised to bring us more--never happened. I ordered a glass of wine--not from the wine list because I was told that they no longer carried those brands. Then I asked for a glass of water, which I did eventually receive--1 hour later. The food was only average--my pasta was hard and dry, the sauce was cold. It could easily have been a frozen dinner that was microwaved. Dessert took an extra 1/2 hour to arrive. Well, these things happen, and it was annoying, but nothing to really get upset about. However, we were going to a performance that started at 7:30. At 7:15 the waiter brought our checks. I asked a waitress if she could take our checks, since our waiter was unavailable and we wanted to leave. She told me he was busy adding up other checks. When he finally came to take our checks, I told him to please hurry, we wanted to make our show. He-- rather abruptly-- told me to follow him to the cash register and he would take care of us. When I walked into the bar area, he was complaining to the bartender about the customer--not the word he used--who had 15 minutes to get to the show and was in a hurry. He rang up my friends orders, then said to me: " If you had been on time for your reservation, you wouldn't be late. I don't need to take this." I started to protest that my reservation was for 5:30, I was there at 5:30. But he turned his back to me. So I asked to see the manager who was sitting right there at the bar listening to the whole discussion. However, he made no attempt to get up from his seat or even to talk to me. At that point, I realized that if the attitude of the management is that they don't really care about the customers, the wait staff will reflect the same attitude. Our Youngstown area has been depressed for so long, it has been so nice to see people coming downtown for the entertainment venues and dinner. My recommendation to the readers of this review is to keep coming downtown, but avoid Cafe Cimmento at all cost.
Group of 6 ate at Cafe Cimmento in February 2009, there are several things that went terrible. First or waitress was terrible, she rarely came over to our table to check on us and we had to call her over ourselves several times. She had to take our orders twice because she didn't write the orders down the first time. Two of our pasta dinners came out wrong (after over an hour)and we had to send them back. The selection on the menu is not good. We asked to talk to the owner finally at the end of the evening and he was extremely defensive and argued with us about our complaints! That was the worst part of the evening is that the owner did not care. I will never go back and going to tell everyone about our experience.
One of best places in the City. A must visit. We have taken many family members and friends there to taste the great food of Youngstown
