Smarty Pants and Silvia are mistaken, they must have been somewhere else. Peppercorn and Vine in Meadville PA does not have a dinner theater, never did! It's not anywhere big enough. John would not have stiffed you, I'll bet he's never stiffed anybody! Maybe smarty pants should change his handle to dumb a** !
What Peppercorn and Vine does have is excellent food & great drinks. Try a Blue Shark for example, or a Bahama Breeze! And it is all prepared to your order and reasonably priced. A'vant-garde in a little town! What a concept!
It is the coziest place in the area, unpretentious, everyone is welcome, everyone is friendly, you are family when you walk in the door. It is never loud or raucous, it is a place for adults to go to relax, have a few drinks, conversation and/or an excellent dinner. Leave your no-class baseball cap out in the car, Junior, and don't bring a big group because it is small and intimate. I do understand though that you can talk to John to schedule a large gathering.
Happy Hour is from 4:30 to 7 every day I think, with drink and appetizer specials. They will serve you a nice drink, well garnished and presented in a nice glass. And the bartender will probably remember what you drank when you were there last month! The appetizers are great! Try the homemade crab cakes! They also have a weekday dinner special, right now it is endless steak and shrimp complete with vegetable and salad bar for just $12.99. I had that this past Monday and it was good. The menu changes regularly, but it is always special. If you don't see what you want, ask, they will go out of their way to accommodate you. Menu substitution requests are graciously accepted. Magnificent sauces, interesting combinations, splendid presentation, more than adequate servings, affordable prices - the best kept secret in northwestern Pennsylvania.!
They just started having live music on Friday nights until midnight, a nice place for adults to go to meet and enjoy. You can actually hold an intelligent conversation there, both in terms of the atmosphere and the clientele.
If you are looking for a good meal in pleasant surroundings, are not into the kiddie bar or sports bar things, are looking for something better than the fast food joints, "country style" diners, chain restaurants, or spaghetti houses will sell you, if you prefer being seated and well served on a fresh tablecloth with linen napkins, fine china and elegant glassware over carrying a tray and a plastic spork, prefer candlelight over big screen TV, ambiance over atmosphere, quality over quantity, good and fresh over fast and facetious, or would like to enjoy the company of some people more interested in your mind than your body, then you will enjoy Peppercorn and Vine. I stop by now and then, say hello if you see me. My name is Stacey and I am a happy customer.
Foodwise and servicewise, it's pretty good. However, I will never eat there again, and a number of my friends will not either. Why? Because the owner stiffed the dinner theatre actors.
I was cast in a dinner theatre show, which was to be the first of a series of shows here. Our director informed us in the beginning that we would get $50 a show plus tips. All we had to do was show up and rehearse. Everything went well until opening night, when one of our shows for the night was cancelled. Disappointing, but those are the breaks. Opeining night came and went without actors being paid. But hey, there was always next week...
Cue up next week. The owner cancelled all remaining dinner theatre performances...and instead of paying the actors $50/show as promised, offered either $10 cash, a $40 gift card for P&V, or use of a BAR TAB at another tavern. What a let down, not only to the actors, but those who had paid $50 a person for a four course meal and a show. We all were over-promised and under-delivered.
Yeah, the martinis and cheesecake are good, but I've had better at other establishments that haven't stiffed me.
What a wonderful experience. Friendly staff, great food & CLEAN!
We started off with the Ahi Tuna app. & French onion soup to die for. Then I had the Filet topped with the crab cake and my husband had the marinated strip steak. then homemade cheesecake & key lime pie. Great selection of wines too. We are fom the D.C. area & thought the prices were unbelievably low for what we had! Food took a little time to arrive, which is exactly why we enjoyed our evening. NO RUSH - Very relaxing. Who needs the big city!

There is the problem, YOUR DIRECTOR MADE PROMISES HE COULD NOT KEEP! PAY WAS CONTINGENT UPON TICKET SALES. CUT & DRY THERE WERE NO RESERVATIONS FOR THE SECOND SHOWING THEREFORE, THE DINING ROOM COULD NOT BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. SAME WITH THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND. THE DIRECTOR WAS FULLY AWARE OF WHAT THE OWNERS HAD AGREED TO SO MISTER SMARTY PANTS, CUE INTO THE FUTURE & MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF THE FACTS AND MAYBE DEAL WITH A MORE MATURE & EXPERIENCED DIRECTOR WHO DOES NOT LIE TO YOU!
